So what exactly is Modal and why do we use it in HidraWear garments? What’s wrong with just regular old cotton or synthetic blends? Let’s take a closer look.. Modal, known for its incredible soft touch, is a sustainable fibre derived from beech trees, often used in premium underwear. It is soft to the touch, and feels light against the skin. On top of that, HidraWear material MicroModal is extremely breathable and wicks moisture well. The combined experience of its unparalleled softness and cool fit against the body makes it a great choice for HidraWear.

Modal is up to 50 percent more absorbent than cotton. Micropores inside the fabric absorb any water or sweat they come into contact with. Importantly it is also highly breathable and high wicking. This means that, unlike with cotton and synthetics, it is far less likely to trap uncomfortable dampness or retain odours.

Cotton tends to lose its shape and softness after wash cycles, becoming less comfortable over time, even with the use of fabric conditioners. Modal on the other hand keeps its shape, colour and softness, even after frequent washing. The smoothness of the fabric makes hard water deposits less likely to adhere to the surface, so it stays soft through repeated washings

Modal doesn’t pill and retains colour. The fabric resists pilling and has a smooth finish that makes it ideal for everyday wear and use. This will keep your HidraWear garment looking and feeling like new for longer

Modal is completely biodegradable and made from ethically sourced and renewable trees. So it’s good for the environment too!
